Harlem NOW is a diverse group of Harlem residents that have joined together to build a consensus on the important issues that impact all of the stakeholders in our community.
Harlem NOW is a proactive voice in the dialogue about the future of our community and the real need to prepare for that future by developing new leadership that will represent us in government.
The key to our future success of our community is the understanding that "We are all in this together," with shared goals and commitment to sustained growth and economic opportunities for all stakeholders in our community. By working together we will ensure our collective voice is heard by our elected officials, business and government entities and developers who are continuing to shape what our community will ultimately become.The stakes are too high to cede control of Harlem's future without inclusion of the views and opinions of a greater number of residents, business owners and others with a vested interest in this iconic community.
The politics of fear that has for too long driven a wedge between the local residents who are the foundation from which Harlem was built and the newer residents who have decided to invest in Harlem is counterproductive. We must urgently move beyond the rhetoric and divisiveness to challenge the status quo. By moving beyond the fear tactics we can embrace the reality that what we share in common is far greater than our differences and unity is our greatest strength.
As neighbors it is our duty to give each other the same level of respect and consideration that we expect for ourselves. This means that we should endeavor to understand that many of our neighbors may have a very different socio-economic reality, ethic or religious background or views that may differ from our own.
Harlem NOW seeks to build consensus around issues, drive the dialogue about our shared future and inspire neighbors to act in concert with one another to bring about tangible change for Harlem.

Harlem NOW is comprised of Harlem residents of all backgrounds who share a common desire to positively impact our community and engage our neighbors in a productive manner.
Harlem has always the most culturally diverse community in New York.
Harlem NOW's motto "Neighbors United for Change," reminds us that we are all in this together
and our strength lies in our ability to come together with a common purpose.
Harlem's significance as an iconic community and its unparalleled history make the work of Harlem NOW all the more important as our community continues to progress.

to Diddy, Harlem is a cultural mecca recognized around the world. The challenge is to concentrate on efforts
that bring our community together and reinforce the great promise of the place that means so much to so many around the world.
